Painting a car to the color you want will be cheaper than finding one, especially that unique a color, in a convertible. Speaking from experience even if there is little to no rust on the car the mechanics can really run a bill up in a hurry. If you are going to pay that kind of money for a restored car make sure to have it inspected by someone that knows what to look for.

I will say this, I would rather do mechanical work that body work and paint.

I set out to look for an Emberglo 66 Convertible as well (I had an Emberglo coupe in my youth), but I ended up with one in Wimbledon White because it was such a good car in terms of condition and originality.

Who knows, maybe you will get lucky, but as others have suggested, don't let color get in the way of buying a better car.

Talking about colours... is there any registry of production numbers of 65-66 mustangs by colours ? On what basis do we say this one is rare and the other isn't ?

I am restoring 65 convertible in praire bronze with white top, is this colour also rare ?

There is a registry, but since it's after the fact (way after) the data are likely not accurate.

Yes, Prairie Bronze is quite rare. Well under 10%, probably less then 5%.
