'66 Axle identification and help
This is the first time I've worked on an axle and I have a few questions. My wife's brakes failed (all 4 wheel cylinders, master cylinder and shoes falling apart). While I have it down, I wanted to replace the rear bearing seals and housing cover gasket. I ordered the National Seal Kit from Oreilley online but it doesn't look anything like what I have. Can anyone id the axle, housing and chunk? Are the axle bearings pressed on and what is the ring on the inside of the housing and near the axle bearing? Also looks like there is a race in the axle as well but no bearing was there. Again this is all new to me so go easy on me.

That's the 7" integral axle assembly used on 64-70 170 and 200 equipped Mustangs. They probably sold you V8 parts.
Your first photo is the pressed-on bearing and bearing retainer.
The second is the housing, with seats for the bearing and seal.
The third shows the exposed differential. At the top of the photo is the main bearing cap, then differential housing, ring gear, and opposite main bearing cap.
The last, of course, is the typical 7" diff cover.
