Don't even bother trying to get your car to sound like the Bullitt Mustang... the engine sounds were recorded and dubbed in from a F1 racer!

I'd ask around at the local mufller shops. Tell them what your looking for and what they suggest. Most of the time, they will know someone who has something like what your looking for. When the guy told me to put a Flowmaster 70 series on my ram, I laughed and said no it will be to loud, I want something for hiway driving. He called me a few days later and asked me to come by when I got off work, so I did. He had a chevy 454 pickup there with the same muffler he was tryin to sell me. I listened to it, and we took it out on the hiway and I was sold. It has some sound when ya mat it to pass someone and it idles like a dirt track stock car, but when cruise 65 it has very little noise.
Long story short I'd shop around and talk to the people who install mufflers everyday.

In the best of worlds, that will work Jinxed. However, most guys don't live in the best of worlds, so have little opportunity or even desire to take the time and effort to do what you did. And, as has been pointed out.....the sound bites you get from the internet are not anywhere near realistic sounds. I love my mufflers, but I only happenened onto them. I was in a Midas muffler shop getting someting else done, and there was another guy there getting Ravins put on his 67. I was so impressed, that I had them put a pair if them on ol' Yeller.

My buddy just had a new exhaust put on his 70 vert, the muffler shop had a couple of mach-up pipes with different mufflers so you could hear the difference on your car before making the decision.
