Default sound healthy?

obviously lopey, but since I can't find any rythm whatsoever I thoiught I ask the experts if that sounds normal. drives very nice otherwise.
if i lean out the idle it starts stumbling. no smoke at idle but i can smell it running rich when behind the car (itchy eyes as well). no idea what to try next. seems i have to go use smaller nozzles for the accellerator pump. it's like a waterfall when you press the accellerator (compared to the holley 570 street avenger)

What's the idle timing and rpm? It sounds fine though, and stable.

cuts up real nice, how many miles is on that motor?

looks more like oil then too rich, if it does burn your eyes just lean it out a weee bit, maybe a quarter turn, on the gas and open the air side a 1/2 turn.

sounds really smooth, silky smooth.

ya Gun :-) quite rich on the pump spray :-)
haven't driven it yet with this tuning. i just went 1.5 turns out each, and kept adjusting down until the engine ran ok without hickups. and that it starts easy with turn of key. i'll try again to lean it out further, but only an 8th turn on all 4 screws seems to upset things.
for the idle timing this time i went with manifold vacuum to distributor. no vacuum 14 degrees, max at 34 at around 3200. but with vacuum connected i'm at around 24 degrees at idle. idle rpm is 850-ish
i find it just a bit odd that I can't find any rythm in there whatsoever.

the engine was supposedly rebuilt about 6000 miles ago, for a Ford GT. they went racing in Le Mans. owner drove it back and wanted a new engine (bigger, EFI, induction ...). so they sold it on ebay in Uk and I got my hands on it this way. #5 cylinder made lifeter noise, so i adjusted and a few months ago 2 pushrods gave way. they broke and bent. sicne the bent one was the ticking one I was convinced it was always the case (bent since i had it). anyway. exchanged all of them and idle vacuum is very erratic. i just don't know is it normal or do I have an intake valve not sealing proper. i'll probably do a leakdown test to rest the case .. i'm constantly chasing ghosts

delighted you all say that it at least sounds normal *g*

looks like oil to me also. simple, if you use oil then its oil. run a compression test also.

Sounds good to me. Do as I say and not as I do, and leave it alone. Doubtful right?

hehheeee :-)
it's not using any water, any oil. it's clearly fuel, can smell that. oil is blue.
but i'll definetly do a compression test at some stage including leakdown to be sure.
Car is running great, very easy and streetable and gobs of power ... so i better stop complaining

It sounds about right to me. Well except for the Flowmasters. LOL... I thought you were going to replace them with something else. What carb are you running now? I thought you switched from the Edlebrock to the Holley. Are you back on the Edelbrock?

You can hear mine in the link in my sig. In the video its idle is a little high. I think mine sounds close to the same. The mufflers sound different, but I think that its similar. Back when I had the Blowmasters, mine sounded almost identicle to yours.

EDIT: I just realized you now have a Speed Demon carb.
