Thanks for the reply. I am going to go with the 7" main headlights too. I currently have the smaller ones and the gap around them is terrible. I thought they weren't quite right. That is on my list to do this year.......that damn list. lol.

Car is looking great by the way.

We opted for a standard 7" headlight to fill the space better more like the movie car. I think our efforts paid off..

Here's the difference, car with small headlights and off-brand lights in place of PIAA blue lights:

So as we wait just a wee bit longer for color we had a good friend, Jay Johnson, who does upholstery assemble and cover the seats for us. We still have to add the Shelby backs but I thought I'd share how nice they turned out so far!

We decided to have the undersides of the hood and deck lid finished in black since both the trunk and engine bay are black and not body color.

Glad to see some paint. Under side of your hood looks so flat! Is that spi black? any clear or single stage on it? you will be driving a mechanical masterpiece soon. Congrats.

NoReigns it looks great the progress you've made. I would have little problem waiting on paint since it is so important in the overall look. You do not want to rush paint. I have to agree with a majority of the people here and built what you want, it is your time, your money and your car.

I know I've probably told you this before, maybe in this thread, but when my younger brother and I drove my twin brother's 07 Shelby GT/SC at the 45th Anniversary (mainly because he had to direct traffic with the club sponsoring it here) we saw a black Eleanor. When it was started up it vibrated across the parking lot and into our chests when he pulled around to park in the area. My younger brother turned to me and said, "I do not care whatever else we see here. That is the baddest mustang here." This was all Friday night for the cruise and still had 2 days left, but he was right. The car was on the cover of the May issue of Modified Mustangs or or one of my other mustang magazines in 2009.

It had a 427 side oiler with "some modifications".

I love reading this thread, can't wait to get done with school and get back to putting money towards my 69 so I can get it back to at least driving condition while, like ZMetallica, work on the list of mods I have planned for it.

Thank you! Nope it is just SPI black epoxy. After it dries it will look a little more flat. I wanted it to compliment the engine bay and I think it will do just that.

Thank you and I completely agree. That car was sweet, we got to see it in person at Carlisle a few years ago. I love reading the stories and looking at pictures like that particular one in MMF magazine. Helps keep the inspiration. As much as I have been patient, and fought it, and have been frustrated, I know in the end all this wait will be worth it. It should be soon something is sprayed, like...this week maybe...but if I say that I'll jinx it. Oh well, I said it!

This weekend we worked on restoring some of the interior pieces. It was funnn. We clean and painted the Shelby seat backs, polished up the stainless trim and assembled them. My pup wanted to be the first to try them out!

Hey wondering what did you have to do to mount the bigger headlights. I also felt something looked weird with the little lights. Im running a stock 67 shelby front end but assume the main headlight setup would be the same for both.
