Default Enigne mount problems, please help

I am having a issue and really don't know what to do. I pulled an engine from a 1972 Ford Econaline van. I am not sure of the year of the engine because it is a HO 302 because of the firing order, and as far as I know HO was not made until '82. If it is the original engine then it has been rebuilt with new cams to make it a HO firing order. The way the engine mounts bolt to the block is with two bolts, like a '72 302 would have, and has one threaded stud to go into the cross member. I want to put this engine into my 1980 fox body mustang, but the only engine mounts my local parts stores can find me will not bolt up to that old of a 302. The engine mounts for a 1980 mustang have one threaded stud that goes to the block, and one threaded stud that goes through the cross member. If I were to "screw" the engine mount into the block, the mount will be straight up and down, so of course it will not bolt to the cross member. Does anyone know if an engine mount for a 1972 econoline van will line up right and be flush to a 1980 mustang cross member, anywhere I can get a different mount, or anywhere I can to to get an adapter??

i have 3 SBFs in my basement from 3 different decades and they all have the same mount bosses on the block. i've never heard of any variation in the mounts. you should be able to use your '80 mounts without any problem.

Sounds like you are working with a 351 Windsor but the motor mounts out of the 80 should work.

The 289, 302, 351W, and 351C should all use the same mounts, which attach to the two large bosses seen here:

well, i thought it might be a 351W, but the intake manifold measures like a 302. As for the engine mounts, the 80 mustang 302 mounts only have one stud that goes into the block instead of two bolts that screw into the block, so do I screw the engine mount into the front thread or the back thread?

the block looks exactly like yours, just not as clean and painted as yours hahaha. The best I can tell you, because I have no way of posting any pics right now, is to go to advancedauto.com and look up the engine mounts for a 72 econoline van and the mounts for an 80 mustang, and you will see what I am talking about. the 72 van mounts will bolt up to the block, but the 80 mustang ones will not.

oh, and when you look up the mounts for the 80 mustang, it will only let you look up mounts for a 4.6 V8, but they are the same mounts as a 5.0

Ah, I'm pretty sure the 1980 mounts attach to a bracket on the block, they don't screw into the block. Since you are going into a 1980, you'll need the brackets.
