A 4 speed manual IS a rare option with the 71-73 cars. For example
only 1% of all Mustangs in 71 were made with 4 speeds. Not sure of exact
number for 1973, but it has to be equally rare especially with the 351. Manuals in big cars were becoming very rare by the 70s. Now it's almost non-existant.

A deluxe or elite Marti report are the only way you can get production statistics, The basic report doesn't have it.

Very nice starting point. With those options I would have to lean toward putting it back to original form.

Well, that was my intention to being with. Only thing that isn't stock is the auto trans. I want to put a 4 speed toploader back in it, but they are pretty rare. I'd love to get a new David Kee toploader, but they cost $2038. In any case, that's one of the last things on my list. I need to get it in driving condition first.

Did the original trans get scrapped/sold or is it lying around somewhere?

I have no idea what happened to it. My dad put the auto in a long time ago.

Dang that's a shame. Everything numbers matching but the trans... Oh well! It's still a sick car!

Yeah, that's why I want to track down an original toploader for it, but it's almost impossible.

Like a needle in a hay stack... probably more like hay in a needle stack actually...
