Whoa..... did I ever start a hornet's nest here....

Well now I am more confused, and will definitely be doing more research. Thank you everyone for the advice/knowledge so far, looks like I have my research cut out for me.

BTW, my budget isn't $600, I was merely stating that I saw a pump and system that went for that much.

Getting rid of the ram with its lever that depends on slop to work correctly is a big improvement.
Also, I thnk GMs used this non-ram type of box, including older Corvettes.

It's an improvement, yes, but my point was that it costs more to convert a p/s car because you then have to replace the power steering linkage. It's a good option on a m/s car because you can use the stock linkage.

Nope- The 64-82 Corvette used the exact same Bendix system as the 64-70 Mustang:

Hey 2+2GT, what are your thoughts on this subject? Stick with original steering or find a way to put in power steering or shell out the money for Rack and Pinion?

IF SO, I stand corrected. Saginaw comes to mind for GMs.
So if I had a 64-82 Corvette, I'd convert it also rather than hang on to the nostalgia of it all.
This is the 3rd millenia after all.
Are you nostalgists still using points also?
Time marches on with or without you.
