Years ago when my 69 fastback was restored ( and I was. kid) I wanted fast off the line. 351w with FMX and put in trac lock and 3.50 gears. I could never cruse for long at even 60mph! (if my speedo was close to correct)
Everyone was passing me on hyw, how embarrassing in a stang! 3.00's would be perfect all around.
Two years ago now I struggled whether to put in an overdrive trans or changing gears back to 3.00. Went with the more expensive transmission work and od trans! couldn't be happier. Still has 3.50 rear end and drive the car in 2nd (which is actually now 3rd) when I hit 50+mph she gets popped up to Drive(OD)and drops the rpm down to around 2000. I can easily run at 80mph if I feel so inclined
