Default Which sending unit filter goes on 67?

I have to pull out the sending unit to clean it out.

I am looking at just replacing the whole thing with this
http://www.cjponyparts.com/FUEL-TANK...4-1968/p/FSU1/http://www.cjponyparts.com/FUEL-TANK...4-1968/p/FSU1/

Problem is they don't say if this is the 5/16 or 3/8 size. Anyone know which it is?

Also, can any convince me not to buy this thing and just clean the one I have? With the fuel line pulled off at the tank I got no gas and then I put a wire up into the tank and got a little gas but the whole thing needs to be cleaned. I am told the car had an issue with the float and thought I would fix that and this fuel line (in the sending unit) by just replacing it. How would you clean the old one if you wanted to?

Gas sludge can be a pain to clean with out going to some heavy duty cleaners that just might damage all the non metal parts of the sender. You are better off spending the 25 dollars on a new sender. Also if you have enough buildup that the sender is pluged you should take a good look at the inside of the tank. No use buying a new sender if the cruddy tank just plugs up the new sender. Im 95% certain that it uses 3/8 hose. That is what my 70 uses.

Thanks. Sort of what I was thinking as far as replacing it. Any idea what size filter goes on this unit?

Any body know a better place to get the part than CJ (they are generally good and it is currently on sale)?

It comes with the filter screen already installed on the sender. Or are you asking about the inline fuel filter at the carb?

I was looking at these (they have 2 aizes) (I have heard it called the "sock" filter before)

I don't see this in the picture for the whole unit.

I just recently did the swap from a 16 to a 22 gallon tank and I replaced everything in the tank area. I got my parts from Mustang Depot.

Here is a link to the sending units Sending Unit List.

I think it was 3/8ths. I think they were made for 3/8ths and 5/16ths, I just lucked out and got the right size. I went to O'Rielly's auto parts and replaced all the hose as well.

If you're going to have the sending unit out to replace the poop sock thing then you mine as well change out the whole thing. Even if you don't change out the sending unit don't forget to get another rubber "O" ring and lube it up with some white grease before you put it all back together.

Oh and here is a picture of everything you'll need if you decide to change out the tank too:
