67 Convertible Floor Pan Question

67 Convertible Floor Pan Question
I have a question about the way the pans tie into the inner rockers on a convertible. Do they slip under the inner rocker to be spot welded from underneath?
Also how can I find the rosette welds on the pan to frame rail? I have ground away a bit, but cannot see them. Would it be better to just carefully air chisel them off?

Keep on grinding. They are there. I would avoid using an air chisel, while it will work, you will most likely damage the frame rail edges.
The floor pans are welded to the inner rocker from the inside, NOT underneath. In other words in you are sitting inside the car you will have the best access to the welds.

I think convertibles are different in that respect, hence my perplexion. I would look underneath, but there's so much undercoating and the temps so cold that it's misery.

What worked for me especially after i couldnt find the weld after grinding. Was to take a thin hand chisel had drive it between the metal enough to outline the edge of the welds. This at most will just ding or slight bend to the rail edge and was easy to straighten out.

Thanks,
I know now why I couldn't find rosette welds on the pan to frame rail... because they tacked from the underside. Anyway I got a large portion of the front driver's side out carefully with the use of a air chisel and cutoff wheel.
My floor pan goes underneath the rocker and spot welded.
