Default how much to install racing cam kit?

i'm looking to upgrade my engine a little bit. thinking of putting a racing cam kit on there.

however i live in an apartment and lack a garage (and the ability) to install it myself.

how much would it cost for a mechanic to install if i bought the parts myself?

was thinking something like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2122/

and what would the gains be like after the upgrade?

thanks in advance.

That would be a pretty 'streetable' cam, not 'racing'. The 289 High Performance cam was much more than that, a least on the intake side. You have to R&R the radiator, harmonic balancer, timing cover, distributor, and intake manifold. Figure a whole day at somebody's shop rate, $60-$80/hr. In warm weather, a nice Saturday in the parking lot would do, but in Utah, that's months away.

yeah i meant street/show not racing.

and yeah, def not happening in this weather currently.

so it'd probably take a good 8-12 hours in a shop?

Well, you'll need a timing gasket set, and new timing gears and chain.

I would modify OEM 302 sbf car in following order:

Dual exhaust.
Shorty Headers or HiPo exhaust manifold.
Rejet 4 bbl carburator.
Port match head and gasket.
Stronger valve springs.

Not enough then: larger valves

Not enough: RV cam

Not enough: roller lifters/cam

Not enough: Stroker

Not enough: 351W or BBF

Somehow I missed the sig pic.

What I'm trying to say is I would upgrade heads before I would change cam.

As for the side pipes ...thanks for the flash back....

so much hatin on the side pipes lol, their kinda growing on me personally. although having more than 4" of clearance would be nice lol.

i would like to switch engines, but i think the cost would send me to an early grave with teh ol lady.

i'd much rather have this in it: http://www.proformanceunlimited.com/...363_450hp.html
