Default 16" or 17" wheels? or both?

So I have been looking to get new wheels for some time now, I was thinking about going with Cragar Soft 8 or Cragar Quick Trick

My question is should I do same size all around or 16"front and 17"back?

Car is stock height

first of all, i would not buy either one of those wheels. for the price that you are going to spend you can get a set of used wheels off of craigslist that will be 1000 times nicer.

you can also buy a set of take offs from a newer mustang and probably get tires on them for the the same price as well. here are just a few that i pulled up real quick!

these are just a few choices. remeber, you will need to pay shipping, and mounting and balancing of the tires.

You forget the spacers needed to run the newer rims. The spacers are thick i wouldn't trust them on my car.If your buying rims buy ones that fit the car.I don't like either rims you posted but i would run one size easier to rotate and carry one spare not two.

here's my two cents, go same size all the way around so you can rotate them like god intended, possibly stay away from directional tires as well, so you can rotate them left to right, right to left

17" wheels are still the craze so you will be paying for their inflated prices (case in point $99.95 vs $75.95 according to your links) and they will require lower profile tires to fit your wheel wells, again paying higher prices than the 16", 17's have less rubber, stiffer ride, arguably "better" handling at a cost of comfort I guess, also harder to mount the tire, although pro shops do mount them daily

I like the idea of getting rims off of Craigslist, but keep in mind modern Mustang take off rims 2000 and up or so will have the wrong offset requiring you to put on a set of spacers to fit on your car, I believe the stock Mustang rims had 0 offset meaning the middle part of the rim that bolts on to the hub was in the center of the rim, these days the middle part is moved over to the outside of the car just enough to require a shim or a spacer sandwiched between your drum/rotor and your new modern wheel, guys have done it, and don't get me wrong some of the new rims look fantastic, but do you wanna run the spacers, some guys do some guys don't

hope that makes you scratch your head before you decide

get the front end aligned get a Detroit true trac LSD so you never have to rotate wheels... then do whatever...Although I think you should stick with an equal size wheel on all 4...I dont really know though..hard call.

I have seen too many thick spacers fail on imports i won't ever run one. When it fails your wheel comes right off its not something you want to happen.

I'll suggest the 17's, mostly because performance-oriented tire selection is better.

Some of the early wheel designs are starting to become available in 17's.

Staggered wheel diameters can give a slightly lopsided look if your front brakes are visibly bigger than the rear brakes.

I like the look of the 16s as well. But if you're on the fence, check out the price of the tires for each of these. It may help you make the decision.

I ahve to agree. For the 65-66 Mustangs the 16's look better. I just think the 17's are way to big for that body style.
