Default Any ideas on building a classic?

Hey guys... I think we can all appreciate the classics. But what year is your favorite? Which style? Just wanting to get some ideas. Im building a classic mustang in a few months and was wondering if anybody had any good ideas, color schemes, interior, transmission, engine ideas. Probably going to want a 302. I already have some plans to start with but hey... i cant think of everything and new ideas help. Thanks all advice welcome!!!

just do yourself a huge favor and get your ideas etc... but do the car however you like it no matter! don't be like me and can't deside on anything, because it will take you years. i desided long ago that stock is boring...and guys/gals on this site and others have done some really cool things to their rides! good luck

I am rebuilding a RestroMod '67 Coupe with a 289 and an AOD transmission. I have debated doing a 302, but the 67 didn't have that. I agree with jgstang65 about deciding completely what you want BEFORE you start. Otherwise, yes it will take you a very long time. I am doing a sunrise yellow that was from the original paint scheme they offered. I am doing a combo of Burgundy/Black interior with black paint on all metal inside. The console is a custom built by me, which reminds me to put up pictures of it.

Well that's my 2 cents, but welcome to the forums. The folks here are all great and very informative.

Ya thanks. Im really wanting to do something like a 66 or 68 coupe thats black with white or gunmetal stripes, a 302, 4 speed manual, and a custom black interior with some cragar wheels or american racing. Something like that. Its gonna be clean when im finished and knowing me itll be done in about a year. I dont play around much when it comes to projects haha. So black 68 with gunmetal stipes and a manual tranny hooked up to a 302 with nice whels and a few custom peices like grilles tail lights... etc.. what do you think?

The 65-66 Mustang Coupe is my favorite of course, but I do like the 67-68 coupes as well. They make great Restomods because they are so much lighter than the fastabacks and covertables.

It's the little things you do that others haven't done that make you smile even more later. For example we decided that we didn't want any painted surfaces in the interior so everything was done using vinyl. The interior doors and lower dash areas which usually get paint we covered in vinyl instead. Made the interior much warmer to the touch instead of the cold painted metal. Most people at showsmdont realize it but those who do notice usually make a big deal out of it. :-)

Lots of sweet ideas if you use your imagination. Make it your own and youll be happy.

Thanks! Ya I probably will stick with a 66-66. They are lighter so I'll get more power to weight ratio... Plus the body style is just amazing. I was going to make a completely custom interior though. Not all pumped out or anything. It will look like a classic... It will just be more unique than most the others. Something that will stick out you know? I'm really excited about this. Haha
