Default 5.0 and GT exhaust sound on my '66

Quick question... can someone educate me on what affects the sound of an exhaust system? I really like the sound of the 5.0 and GT mustangs and if possible would like to get that performance sounding exhaust for my '66 coupe. The motor is a '68 302 with 2" dual exhaust, slightly better than stock mufflers. I heard some "purple hornies" on youtube and liked that sound but I wasnt sure if its just the muffler that makes the difference or if its more involved. Thanks in advance

mufflers make an awful lot of difference in the way the car sounds. sometimes you can even tell what muffler the car has just by listening. even if it's a different engine. Obviously if you run them yourselves. I never heard the purple hornies, but someone might have them and can confirm they'll sound similar.
when you check on youtube for mustang purple hornies, I find they all have the same note
