Post Help/Referral to best/most reputable custom classic builder in the usa ('64-'66)

Hi Folks,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and i apologize in advance for my general lack of knowledge. I am in the market to commission a build of a custom classic Mustang convertible - most likely in the 1964-1966 range.

Hoping to work with the builder to find and then customoize and restore the car to my desired specs - again i am not uber knowledgeable and would need someone to walk me through the process. i know what i like visually but am not as educated on the mechanical specs. From my limited research i believe my desires would fall in the resto-mod category.

i am based in los angeles but am willing to work with anyone in the usa as long as they are highly recommended and reputable.

i know i am beginning the process to spend a good deal amount of money and would really like to have confidence that i am working with someone or a team that is above board and honest and not looking to steer me in the wrong direction just to line their pockets.

again thank you for your time - i appreciate any help/guidance you can offer.

All the best,

Jimmydean28

These guys fit your bill perfectly, too bad you're so far from them. They've been doing it for over 35 years.

Theres a guy in Stanton that does concourse winning restorations on everything from mustangs to Panteras. He also does "mild" restomod work. Im not sure how far you want to customize but his cars are correct down to nuts and bolts and his work is as clean as it gets.I dont have his info anymore but he only works nights(9pm-7am).

What part of CA are you from?
Do you want one shop that does it all (ie, just write a check)? Or are you open to having one shop do mechanicals and another do body/paint.

hi 1971mach1 - i am based in los angeles but willing to work with anyone out of state if its worth it - obviously one group is easier - like you said write one check thats it - but defintely open to teaming with more than one group - love to hear your insights - thank you for your time
