true roller timing gear set small block ford
i just noticed my timing chain is not a true roller.
i want true roller timing gear sets for 351w (1979 fwir).
there are discrepancies in compatible dates.
i would guess my 351W flat tappet would use same chain set as 289.
i would guess chain sets are different: flat tappet vs. roller lifter.
any body know differences or dimensions of sbf timing chains?
what brand sbf double roller chain hold up well?

thanks.
i will look at Cloyes & Rollmaster.
mine is stamped(11-98 111X; FE3-1, E3AE-A3A; 321).
looks pretty good after 7000 miles but has 0.4" stretch if i push if firmly.
ford spec is 0.5" but i don't know how firmly to push. (After review of ford manual and my tom monroe book my actual slack is 0.4"/2 = 0.2")
mine has 2 piece fuel pump eccentric.
some have note about thrust plate modification req'd.

Looks like I have:
Cloyes Heavy-Duty Timing Sets CLO-C3057K w/ 0.2" non true roller double chain.
Looks like I want:
Cloyes Gear 9-1138 - Cloyes Street True Roller Timing Sets w/ 0.25" true rollers.
My casting numbers match but i will need new gear machined for larger 0.25" rollers.

.5" deflection from chain center is ford spec
ford spec is .5" deflection maximum from straight line off sprockets; this is half of total deflection.
my total deflection is .4 inches.
since my half deflection is only .2 inches i may just run w/ my current chain.

placing an order soon and am really wanting that true roller timing chain set.
i prefer 1 piece eccentric fuel pump cam.
i have a 1.12" and a 1.38" cam drive pin.
for the 1.38" pin to work the 1 pc eccentric cam sprocket must be about 1/4" thinner than the 2 pc eccentric cam sprocket.
does anyone know the thickness of sbf 1 piece eccentric cam sprocket?
not getting anywhere fast. i think the long 1.375" pin fits pre 73 1 piece eccentrics w/ a thin OEM cam gear w/ single chain.
i think double roller cam gears may be thicker and require a rare <5/16" dowel pin?
not sure who sells the <5/16" cam dowel pins?
can't be this hard.
