Default OH NOES!

Well I hooked up my nitrous today and I noticed that at full throttle the butterflies on my carb were only open about 75%. So I messed with the throttle a lot. So of course the car was flooded when I went to start it. Now once the car starts it wont hold an idle if it dropes below1700 rpms it wants to die. Also when I back the throttle off sometimes it will rise up in rpms all on its own? When the car dies out there is A LOT of white smoke coming from the carb and is gas usually that cold?

Left car alone for about 30 mins. Went back out and same result. Once the car starts and goes through some revs it shouldnt be flooded anymore right? maybe when i tested the nitrous plate to see if it worked there was still nitro in there when I started it?

looks like the front float might be full. Not sure if that would cause the problem or how to adjust. Another weird thing is that when I give it a touch of gas to keep it from dying the rpms climb up above 2k all on their own then slowly come back down below 1k and then the car dies.

ur pullin my leg.

maybe u have plenty of duration and little vac at low rpm making idle a bit rough.

i'm guessing you already tuned ignition curve to maximize starting and idle, minimize spark knock, while shooting for maximize safe HP.

bet your ignition sys has a function to alter advance when NOS kicks in.

u already took choke and fast idle cam out of equation while trouble shooting.

and the basic pump shot tests, throttle plate inspection, vac leak checks, flooding check, etc.

I dont have a damn vaccum gauge!

Im running the car 2* retard from where it wants to be which is all I need for a 100 shot.

I had to bend my gas pedal up in order to get it to open the butterflies all the way at wot. Wonder if i tweaked something. The carb is acting like it is choking for air when it dies. Also the car use to be able to start without applying the gas pedal. now I have to hold it open for it to fire. Maybe Ill try to open the butterflies open then back down the idle mixture?

It will have to wait till tomorrow though. My wife and the neighbors are tired of the pictures falling off the walls! LOL

its just a cam that choke activates to maintain high idle speed until engine warms up.

i like to disable choke and fast idle cam while trouble shooting carb.

if choke is open then cam should be out of play automatically.
