Default 5.0 EFI to carb?

In all my research on swapping to a carburetor I have only seen one reference about changing valve covers. Is this nesisary and what different will it makes? not going for original). Im asking b/c I ran out and bought covers that only have one oil cap on a tall spout with one vacuum connection. Thanks!

i heard you need different valve covers when going the other way carb to EFI in order for clearance, the EFI upper and lower intake manifolds need to clear the older covers, so since the EFI covers are lower or out of the way already no need to change them to go to a carb, I don't think you mean vacuum connection do you mean PCV port Positive Crankcase Ventilation

I think the old 289/302 engines breathed through the valve cover, where the newer 5.0 engines moved that to the side of the head

post a pic of what you bought

When I called Jegs racing about doing this very same conversion I wanted the Cobra style covers and I was told to use these covers http://www.jegs.com/i/Ford+Racing/39...-C302/10002/-1
I'm going with this manifold http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/...oductId=751401
this carb http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/...d=#moreDetails

I'm going through the same conversion now with an HO motor. Haven't decided on valve covers yet, just need to make sure they work with your lifters.
For manifolds I flipped a coin between the Edel AirGap and the Weiand Stealth. Ended up with the stealth.
For carbs I went with this 650 cfm

if you have the 5.0 HO covers that are alum why not just keep them....they will match an alum intake manifold and you can polish them too...
