65 289 Engine Flush??
Hi im a first time poster and recently came into my first Mustang which spent alot of time not running before I got it..My question comes from some slow overheating isues im having with the car..I can usually drive the car around 15-20 miles before the temp gauge starts creeping up...the car has a brand new radiator in it and when the cap is opened up now there is clearly sediment floating in the radiator...we have flushed it out and started again but alas the sediment comes back..I guess my question is has anyone had an experience with something like this? And it seems as though a garden hose is not powerful enough to remove the sediment as everytime I flush the engine as soon as the car starts moving again it stirs some more gunk up...anyone know what i can use to seriously remove whatever keeps clogging up my system? its gonna be summertime soon here in AZ and im sure the 15 to 20 miles will be 3 in 115 degree heat...
Thanks for any help in advance...

You can try a coolant filter that goes inline the radiator hose. You will need to check it regularly for a while.
FYI, many years ago I had a 65 289 and couldn't get it to run cool in the summer. The stock radiator size was too small. I tried a 4 core and a 7 blade truck fan and still couldn't cool it down. I now run a larger aluminum radiator and a better fan. I haven't had any problems yet.

The 7 blade was a fan from a 70's ford truck. I can't say if the fan was part of the problem or not.
In an effort to avoid problems with this car, I cut up the radiator support to fit a 27" wide aluminum radiator. I use a flex fan from lopers and a serpentine water pump setup.
Currently, there is no shroud, yet the fan pulls like crazy. I am sure there are other AZ guys that are running cool with stock stuff.

Update..The Tefba filter does exactly what it says and has helped keep my car cool ever since the first day I installed it...I have to clean it out once a day but cleaning the filter everyday means I am that much closer to hopefully getting all of the remaining particles clear from the engine..photos included to show anyone how well it works..thanks for the tips guys...
