Overheating and AC shakes?
I had the engine rebuilt a long while back, but ever since then it's done this...overheating thing (I can't remember if I had this problem before rebuilding it, or at least it didn't happen as quick). In stop and go traffic it will gradually rise to 190, sit there a bit, then rise to 210 (cools down if I drive without stopping for longer, of course).
That's generally when I get frustrated because the engine starts to sputter on acceleration and just doesn't seem to like to be running at 210 degrees (though isn't that what the operating temperature should be? Around there...) As well, when I turn the engine off at 210 and try to turn it back on (it gets the coolant rushing around and cools the engine from what I can tell) it sputters and sounds like it's fighting to start.
I have a non-electric flex-fan with the shroud, and I think instead of the 2 row radiator I have a 3 row. What could possibly be causing it to overheat?
Also, I tuned my 200 to spec a couple of days ago. The idle was at, like, 1700 (high, I know, it generally dieseled out on me when I shut the engine off) so I lowered it to about 700 and did the timing. She ran better than she has in a long time.
However, the AC makes the entire car shake. When we set the RPMs higher, it stopped the shaking, but that didn't do well for performance and made it diesel out. Sooooo...what might be the problem?

It sounds like you have a couple of problems coming together.
The stumbling when hot and on a hot start sounds like vapor lock is starting to happen to you. Do you have this spacer installed under your carb?

I would think a spacer will take care of this problem.
For the heating problem. Does it stop raising at 210 or will it heep going up from there? If it stops at 210 then i would think you would need a cooler thermostat.
The shaking with the AC on is because the AC is another load on the engine. Later carbs had a solinoid that would bump the idle up some when the AC was on. What is the idle speed at when it will stop shaking?

I actually do have that spacer under the carb.
I'm not sure if it stops or not. I generally don't let it go any higher than the 210 mark, though when I shut the car off it does continue to rise up to 230 before cooling down. I have a 160 thermostat on it, I think. Either that or the 180.
I don't have a tach on her, but before I adjusted her idle she was at 15-1700 RPMs and the AC didn't really shake much. It was actually kinda smooth. Though, that's just too high of an idle.
