Default What size speakers fit in a 1968 fastback

Hey guys, I have a 1968 mustang fastback and when it was restored there was never a sound system put into it. Im wondering if you guys would know what size speakers i would need for the car. If I want a pair in the front and a pair in the back, and maybe subs? Let me know what you guys think would fit and what I should include in the system. My cousin works at this sound place so the system would probably be from here.

Thanks!

Well, if you're willing to hack holes in your expensive and hard to find trim panels, 6x9 is a good fit. You could also hack the trunk door for them. I'll warn you now, though, some of the folks around here will hunt you down and hurt you for hacking up rare parts like that.

There is an ABS trunk door with pads for 6x9 speakers. You can also get acceptable trim panels that could be used.

For the front, 6" rounds in special kicks are the usual way to go.

Of course, the factory setup was a pair of 4x10's in the doors, with special full-length grilles:

aslo what if I cut into this plastic part, do you think it would work or im better of leaving it alone? What size would be good here?

I think you should get kick panels and a trunk door with speaker pods in them. I can tell you I have phoned all over the country trying to find decent original trunk doors like yours, and of course had to pay out the ***. You can get a pretty good repro now, but it's not perfect.

I'd say go with the kick panels and get yourself a nice set of speakers to go along.
