Talking carb to air cleaner gasket

The Ford parts manual shows part 9654 as being a gasket that goes between the carb and the air cleaner. I can find those for everything but a 6 cylinder 200 with an autolite 1100 carb. Is the gasket not necessary? Anyone know where I can find one? I checked several places including NPD, Va Classic Mustangs, Johns Mustang, etc., and don't see one listed for this engine. The ID/OD measurements that are shown at those sites don't match the size I need, if I need one at all.

Cut a piece of cork sheet, thin cardboard, rubber innertube or a sheet of universal gasket material with an exacto knife to fit the carb. It's not a critical junction. I think it's mostly there so it doesn't rattle or leak dusty air into the carb.

The ford 4 barrel and 2 barrel use the same size gasket. Any parts house should have them. They aren't necessary unless you have a vacuum coming off your breather. I made my own one time, Notebook tablet cardboard back.
Cut a hole in it just big enough for the choke housing to go threw and slid it over the carb, Trace around the carb onto the cardboard. That is the outside of the gasket. measure the thickness of the area between the carb face and the choke housing, probably around 3/8 of an inch, cut the inside of the hole out to 3/8 of an inch to the outside of the hole. You have a gasket. If you feel it should be thicker, Make 2.

i have at least 10 of them (bought a bunch of carb parts for cheap money once) and never need them... they fit right around the circular base at top of carb. make them wide enough so the aircleaer sits on it. you can make that yourself no problem

Why would vacuum from the breather matter? The vacuum is going to pull from the much bigger volume of air coming thru the snorkle and in thru the air filter. The only reason for the gasket is so ALL the air comes thru the filter.
