Default ac blowing 6 degrees

well i had to top off my ac this morning. 80 degrees outside, factory ac 70 mustang with all r134 conversion, hoses, compressor and condenser. cruising at 50 im getting 7 to 6 degrees at the vent. that is with a inferred therm up against and pointing into the vent. with it being 110 out i get 22 degrees and 40 degrees at idle. im pretty sure my gauge is right. did i do something wrong when charging it.

Sounds like you might have done something right to me...

If you get a "real thermometer" that will measure the temperature of the air, (not the vent) It probably wont be quite that cool, 35* air temp with 134a would be a WIN.

the air from the vents will be proportional to the ambient air. I was a a/c tech for a loooong time. The avarage vent temp on a cool morning was no less then 28* max. About 33-40 is average.

If it was blowing at 6-7*, your lines would freeze up and it would stop blowing cold air.

My 68 has 4/40 A/C. Outside air today = 90. Interior air = 89.

You're not using the infrared right. The cold air blowing across its face will give a false lower than normal temp as it fogs over internally and can't read heat. With cold a/c air, you need to hold the infrared a bit away from the vent, shooting into it, and "hunting" for the cold spot all from a distance where direct air isn't blasting it. if you sneak up on it in direct airflow, you'll see a real temp of say, 45°, at first. Hold it there a few seconds and it'll drop. That's due to it fogging.

think your right KMatch. 6 orm7 degrees is unbelievable. and yes id think my lines would freeze. well it will be a good test today, seeing as its 116 outside and it will be driven 20 miles uptown at 4:00 PM.

well my car is my wifes daily driver. she put at least 80,000 miles on it herself. dont reeally know how many miles were on it when i bought it, said 60,000 but the woman said she didnt think that was original. all i knew is that it had factory ac so the wife could drive it to work and back. still doesnt use any oil. i did have harden seats put in it and did a true roller chain, plus dual exhaust.
