Hi all,
I got an aftermarket carb spacer and it is bright alu. Is that the correct color?

I got one that's black hard plastic, so you are OK. It's just aluminum.

The most common spacers are manufactured from aluminum. Phenolic spacers are constructed from an advanced material (a plastic-type compound) that can reduce heat conductivity 10 times greater than aluminum. The result, of course, is a denser air/fuel charge. Phenolic spacers are constructed from layers of material. As expected, heat reduction is significant when compared to a common aluminum spacer. Believe it or not, plywood also is an ideal material for constructing carburetor spacers. Typically, wood spacers are manufactured from top-quality hardwood plywood with a sheet of phenolic resin-impregnated paper bonded to both sides.
