New 22 gallon gas tank disappointment/question
#11
Confirmed this weekend that no matter how you hold the handle you get about 17+ gallons of fuel in the tank. Guess this is due to the space that doesnt get filled. Oh well...4+ extra gallons is a nice boast even if it wasnt the 6+ I was hoping for. I would not recommend getting the 20 since the change would be small.

I did this swap last December on my Mustang. I had to cut the pipe going into the tank for it to fit the 67'. When I fill up, I pump gas until the gas nozzle automatically stops and then I tilt the nozzle sideways, so that I can see into the tank a little and top it off with 1 or 2 more gallons of gas. I've run out of gas a few times and the tank took 21 gallons to fill up to the neck. Next you might have a plastic bowl sender like the one that I have in the picture below. I've replaced two of those this year because the plastic gets holes in it and fills up with gas giving me a lower reading. A friend of mine found me a brass float but I just don't have the energy to mess with this gas tank again for a while. I hate getting gas on me.
