Honestly, because I love the style of the 69 Mustang fastback and would setting for a 67, 68, or 70 fastback. I had the chance to buy a fox body with a 8.50 cage and suspension for $5k, but it was a coupe and just did not fire me up. I would never race an import. Just not thick enough skin to take all the abuse at the track from the guys. My second choice would be something like a 64-65 Falcon or maybe even a 64-67 Fairlane if I go the right price.

Lol...yes, I am 240# of that. That is why the driver tire bites so hard! The curb weight is pretty far off of actual car weight, which surprised me.

A little update. I have not been on in a while due to trying to make money to support my car habit. Around Thanksgiving, I found and purchased another 1969 Mustang Mach 1 fastback. This car was already a drag car, although a very old one. The build was less than desirable square tube chassis and was only a 8.50 cert NHRA SuperGas car from the 80s. The body was decent though, so I put it on the trailer and brought it home. Since then, I have media blasted the 4-5 layers of paint off it, pulled the body off the old chassis, sold the old chassis, and ordered a 7.50 cert tube chassis kit from S&W Race Cars. If you are interested in following, I through together a website to help promote my friends who are helping me and what they can do for race cars. Call it a project build blog and hopefully in a year or two a race team page.

My goal is to build a 8sec NA small block car that I can be consistent in bracket racing. With a little nitrous, I may step it into the 7s and run Top Sportsman IHRA/NHRA.

I'll keep you posted, but check out the pictures of the process so far.
