What happened here?

Should I salvage these?

That almost looks like it's been riding on the axle, hub, or bolt heads The rear slot is also equally worn off.
What's the rear side (inner) of your axle flange and wheel bolt heads look like?

I didn't noticed much on the back of either axles or bolt heads. Only thing i noticed was the left axle edge was worn out in 2 particular spots.

Man not sure, but if you're refering to a parking BRAKE I'd check to make sure everything is tight when bolted up with little play so it can't rub, or if there is something else bent around it. If it's a parking BREAK, well, you should go to the dealer since you can't even spell "brake"...

is it just me, or does the mount for the axle look bent in that last pic?

I'm rebuilding the entire drum "brakes". Was just wondering if this was a common problem with the shoe link. I'm going to cough up the $20 for new links and double check if anything rubs..hopefully not.

I think the image was taken at a funny angle, the mount looks a little bent, but it's all gravy.

Sounds good. For $20, why not really. Hope it works out, let us know!

I've taken literally hundreds of those links off over the years and never seen one so worn as the one you show. Yes, get new ones and after the you've re-assembled make sure it's correctly positioned and doesn't rube the axle flange/hub bolts. If you haven't already, don't forget to replace the hold-down and return springs while your in there. (money well spent)
