chevy VS. Ford
Ok, I have a 62 impala with a 350, and of course my 66 mustang with 289. Now in my personal experience the Chevy engine is a whole lot more easier to work on then the Ford engines. So what do you think?

it's not the number of parts it's the ease. Like for instance the water pump. On a chevy 4 bolts. a ford like 6-8 bolts. The timing chain cover is much easier to take off on a chevy too. It's just little things that add up. but i love my mustang and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Everyone loves ford engines till you have to take the timing cover off, or replace it.
ford timing cover: 100 bucks at the cheapest; big and cast aluminum or iron
chevy timing cover: light stamped steel piece. Can be bought cheaply from the parts store. The water pump goes around it, instead of sitting on top, so no double gasketing to deal with.
Bad thing about chevy engines: distributor at the back.

Ford, Dodge, Chevy......its all good.....wrap them in a pretty shell with shiny paint, work them for power, and drive the **** out of them.
I got no real preferences...other than to say Vintage Mustangs are my overall fav...which is why I own one.

Over the years, I have owned them all. At one point in time during the 70's and early 80's Chevy was putting out some real losers for cars. So, I quit even looking at Chevy's, and haven't had one since then.

Well Yeah, but do me, All the cars in the mid 70's into the 90's sucked. The last car i would own that hits the 70's are a Chevelle and that would be a 71 or 72. Yes, the only chevy's i like are in the 50's and 60's. Apart from the cars themselves Chevy never really had a bad engine, and i do hate the distributor being in the bad, because it is a little harder to work on.

Through my small amount of experience working on my stang and my previous car (74 el camino) I would have to say that the stang has been easier. I'm sure that the amount of stuff under the hood (power steering, power breaks, ac) and how dirty the el caminos engine was played a part in it. so over the two I would pick my stang to work on but I really have nothing against any engines, if there is work to be done ill do it.

The 1980 El Camino was actually a pretty good gentleman's pickup with the 305 that was easy to work on. My father-in-law still has one that runs quite well, and he is 78 years old. I just tuned it up last summer.
