T-5 Rebuild

T-5 Rebuild
Hey guys anyone have a good resource material for doing this project. Just bought a used t5 at a goof price but it has 90k on it so I wanted to be safe and rebuild it myself. I have a good selection of tools but not much experience but don't want to pay a shop to do it. Any books, guides, or rebuild kits that you could recommend?

The only special tool you need is a press and a bearing splitter.
I rebuilt my t5 using this manual, the master rebuild kit from Modern drive line AND a new 1st gear, 2nd gear, and 1&2 slider/reverse. I have the cobra spec t5 so it was worth it.
Spend a day or 2 reading the manual then have a go at it..post photos if you have questions.

You can either use the T-5 bell with a fulcrum spacer and the original z-bar set up, T-5 bell with cable or hydraulic, or use the original bell with a spacer/adapter. You should figure out how you want to actuate the clutch first, then decide which bell to use.
Modern Driveline is the place to go. I found several good how-to's on the net. It's not very hard and with only 90K on it, I bet your bearings are good to go.
It was one of the most rewarding projects I've done yet. Give it a try.

I went with a external slave and it was reasonably priced. I bought most of the stuff from an offroad shop here. if i remember correctly i purchased a 7/8" master, a slave, a ss line, from them and a resevour from a harley shop. I think it was about $225 total. I also bought a 1.5' exhaust flange that worked perfect as a backing plate for the master cylinder. I made the offset linkage from the pedal to the master myself with a couple bolts and a welder.
Totally worth it.
However, i did buy the bracket for the slave from one of the venors on the site here. I had made one but did not trust the durability.

Monster, do you have any pics of you what you did? Also, was your exhaust flange really one and a half feet or is this a typo? how long was your ss line? and how large was your reservoir? Where did you mount the bracket for the slave?

Here are pics/parts/vendors I used for my hydraulic clutch. I spent about $220.

I was fortunate to find an 89 T5 that was in good condition for $350. If I need to rebuild it, I will add parts to make it a T5z.
It requires a lot of attention to detail. I know a few people who have done a rebuild
