Default power steering pump nightmare

well i started about a month ago, replaced my leaking power steering pump, bought from checker about 9 years ago, well the first one i installed leaked in a week, second one leaked right off the bat, third one didnt leak but the rear section of the high pressure hose leaked and then the power steering pump started making noise, replaced it with another and same thing, making noise, i cant figure it out, i then added some lucas additive, thinking it might help, no success. ive never even heard of this many problems with a power steering pump. i have no leaks that i can see. belt has right tension. this is a strange one. the only thing i hav e left to do is take it back to checker and get one from autozone. is there something im over looking here ?

lol

Car...Done!

Do they work fine when you first install them? Does the steering feel normal? I wonder if the pump is deadheading do to a restriction somewhere???

Try the other one and see if the last more than a few days.

Good Luck!

steering feels great. the first two leaked right off the bat. third worked great until the line broke, fixed the line then it started making noise, third made noise as soon as i put it on. figure the third made noise after the line leaked because of it being run without power steering fluid. but the forth, well i dont know. i guess two in a row that leak from the housing was a good indication of the kind of work they do. as far as i know all they do is replace the front seal and oring on the housing, paint it and send it out.

You know that the pump will make noise until all of the tiny air bubbles suspended in the fluid dissipate....

Sometimes this takes a good long time, especially if the fluid is "extra foamy"...

Also, if the return hose has a pinhole, you might be drawing air into the fluid, thereby keeping the fluid full of air bubbles....
