Floor, behind kick plate, firewall(inside) paint question
So, I don't have spray tools, I have a restred car but the firewall inside, under dash, behind kick panels, floor was not cleaned and painted.
So, it has that tarnish/rust coating on it. No rust to wet/leaking but you know what I am talking about.
I want to pull off and paint. I am thinking wire wheeel, treat and prep metal.
I will not have a real sprayer so I was thinking por15. Now, I don't think I want to paint it on as I want an even smooth, no streaking look. I am thinking that I just want black. Now, on the floor I may put duramat.
I may even mix my own lizard skin then dura mat.
So, my questions are these based on the above.
1. Should no matter what I do, use por 15 marine clean & prep&ready. If not, what?
2. Will painted on por15 look streaky, brush strokes?
2a do I have to top coat it or can I leave prime without
3. Is there a spray I can use in hard to get to places?
4. Would you use POR15 flexcote on leaf springs?
What I want is inside protection from future issues and I am not goign to take it all apart in my garage to get to all places, I only plan on taking out interior and some dash as I have to get to heater core to replace it and reinsulate the heater box.
thanks
Don.

Try Rustbullet. I wasn't pleased with the finish POR15 provides. It finishes to a very smooth ceramic finish and very difficult to put a topcoat on it once it dries, unless you also purchase their primer, and all the other marketing horse crap they sell. Search my logon or Rustbullet, I just finished my floors on my 66 coupe. I encourage you to also get their MetalBlast to prep. Great service, quick shipping. Extremely happy with the service and results. I used a roller and it came out great. One thing, the sequence is clean and scrape the old metal and sealant, prep with MetalBlast, wipe down several times with warm water, Rustbullet, let dry, do your 3M panel sealing, dry, and then 2nd coat of Rustbullet. Original questions arose when to do the panel seal, before or after the rustbullet.
