Transmission Fluid Leak - additive to fix?
#3
Depends on where it is leaking. If it is a line- simple fix. If it is the pan, again simple fix. Somthing else not so simple. Try to determine exactly where the fluid is coming from. Also if it leaks more with the engine on or not can help you clue in. More info would be helpful to help you.

First and cheapest step is to find out where is it leaking.
Next step, depending on where it is leaking, is usually just to replace the gaskets. Min used to leak from the pan on the bottom because someone previously overtightened the bolts and warped the pan, so I needed to replace mine, so it all depends.
Find out as much info, like the above said, about where and when it leaks the most so you don't waste money on something that might not work.

Okay, it was leaking along the edge of the pan. We've tried 3 times - two times with a cork gasket and one time with a rubber one. I wonder if replacing the pan with a new one will help. We tried to smooth it out with a hammer. I can take a paper towel and hold it up to the edge of the pan and see the paper towel soak up the fluid.
