Okay I have my power steering bolt. The thermoactor plugs I have coming have a 7/16 inside thread. My bolt is 3/8. Why is it that throughout all my searches I haven't seen this problem tackled? I saw on a Bronco website that there is a bolt with 3/8 on one end and 7/16 on the other. What's the normal power steering pump bolt.
This stuff makes me nuts.

Try using a shampoo with tea tree oil in it. will help with the dry scalp.

Did I do something wrong? Lately it seems like no one has any answers to any of my questions. I am beginning to get a complex.

I would either try using 7/16" bolts or getting 3/8" sized thermactor plugs. You shouldn't have a problem finding the bolts at a place like lowes or a good ace hardware or something.

I spoke with a machinist and he said "drill out the bracket and use a 7/16 bolt"
So rather than trying to hunt down a 3/8 thermoactor insert I suppose that's what I'll do.

I am assuming that the hole in the head or block that the power steering bracket bolts to is threaded for 7/16", and the hole in the bracket is only big enough to accept a 3/8" bolt.....

If so, I would just drill the bracket out like the machinist recommended.

Another option might be to try to install a 3/8" Heli-Coil, provided that there is enough meat to hold the insert, but imo just drilling the bracket is the best idea.

That's what I did, drilled it out. now i have to find a 7/16 bolt 7" long. The Ace down the street from only has 6" bolts. I doubt very much HD has a bolt longer, maybe Lowes on a good day. Pretty sad when everything has to come from the internet. It's a double edged sword that's for sure.

If you mean the long one that holds the aluminum bracket on the head, it wasn't a bolt, it was a stud. Any Mustang supplier can provide this, singly or in a kit for the whole pump.

what you needed was part number 6e086 avail from your local ford dealer. its like a helicoil, with 7/16 outside threads and a 3/8 inside thread.

Might try a fastener store or like Fastenall. I know of two "nut and bolt stores" here in the Little Rock area, and one in Las Cruces. All three of these stores would probably have a 7" x 7/16" bolt (or stud) in stock.
