68 302 4 barrel after market carb

First and foremost BEFORE tuning the carb, you need to be sure the timing is where you need it. Questions I would ask without seeing the car is, is the intake a single plenum or dual? Solid cam or hydraulic? Electronic ignition or points? Cam shaft specs? Lobe separation? The holley is infinitely adjustable, and the size you are using should be fine, for a mild cam and stock converter, and mild gearing. I ran a 650 double pumper on a tall dual plenum intake, and a 750 vacuum secondary, both worked great with no changes to jets.

As stated previously, my Dad had a stoke and does not remember the modifications. So with out dis-assembling, I don't know. The engine would appear to be oringinal. She starts and runs STRONG. Possibly set up for quarter mile racing. I plan on changing the u-joints today and see if that helps with the shakes. I realize the timing and carb set can cause a shake, and adjustments on timing and carb are pretty easy. What about the tranny leak at the linkage connection?
