Default Overheating issues.

I have a 1966 mustang with a mildly built 302, stock radiator, and stock fan. Recently I have been having issues with it overheating even after I ran some cleaner through the radiator. I'm assuming my best option would be to buy a new aluminum radiator but I'm having a hard time finding one for an automatic. Could someone point me in the right direction?

$220 seems a little pricey though

Is this overheating a new problem? Did it work well before? If that is the case the radiator might not be the problem. Considering it is only March and you are down in TN I would suggest getting a decent rad since the summer will take its tool.

I got a Champion 3 row, a real SPAL fan, and the right thermostat even the hottest days were no match.

It's not really a new problem. I've had issues with it before. I brought it to a mechanic and they told me the radiator is so old and clogged up that it just needs replacing

A radiator swap is a pretty easy DIY project but I don't know how much cheaper you are going to be able to go.

Here is who I used. They were even nice enough to allow me to return the shroud and the Chinese fan that I didn't end up using:

I also used a 17in curved hipo SPAL

If I had a 66 and not a 68 and knew what I know now I would buy that one.

Airflow is big so if you have trouble in the dead of summer start looking at one of these:

get a 16in puller
