Question Intake & Carb mounting ?

Installing a Performer intake mamifold on 289, when I install the carb should I use the Intake Carb Space from the original set up or just mount the Edlebrock carb directly to the intake ?

The edelbrock performer carb should have the vacuum inlet for the PCV valve, so the original spacer shouldn't be necessary. Save it though, it's $30+ for that spacer. I would encourage adding a phenolic spacer to reduce heat transfer between eng and carb.

I don't believe you can use the factory spacer on an aftermarket intake due to the spaces under the spacer causing vacuum leaks. Get yourself a good phenolic (plastic) carb spacer and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the response , had a real good look at the spacer and can see what you mean about the vaccum leaks, how thick of a spacer . I guess I will have to measure for hood clearance or can some tell me who has done this set up what they used. Thanks

Which Performer intake? The regular Performer/Performer 289/Performer Plus? Or the Performer RPM or Air Gap? The regular Performer is barely taller than the factory manifold and will take a 1" spacer with no problems. The others are taller and you may have to use a 1/2" spacer.

I have a Weiand Stealth on mine and get away with a 1/2" spacer and I think a 14" x 2-3/4" air filter. Barely. The Weiand Stealth is a fairly tall intake, equivalent to the Performer RPM.

I have the stealth as well and with a 1/2" spacer, it hit my hood and put a small dent in it.

On another note.
What is the name of the water fitting that screws into the intake for the heater hose to connect to? I need a new one but i dont know the name of it.
