Very nice. I might recommend the 1405 instead, however. An electric choke, while convenient, is sometimes a PITA. I've found mine to be, especially when night time vs mid-day temps differ by up to 50 degrees. I can never get the damn thing set up properly and often wish I had gone with a manual choke.

Whichever way you go, budget for the matching Edelbrock tune kit. It's doubtful that the carb will run perfectly out of the box.

As a side note, you may even consider a Summit-brand carb. I've heard good things about them. One of the guys on Stangfix picked one up and is very happy with it. They're kind of a hybrid between a Holley and an Autolite. Annular boosters improve throttle response and allow you to overcarb a bit without worrying about tune issues.

I will also add that the 1405 comes jetted richer out of the box than the 1406 which is good. I have both, but added to auto choke to my 1405 and jetted my 1406 to match the 1405. It runs much better.

Must be nice:P If I adjust mine for night time cold temps, it doesn't come on enough during the day. If I adjust it for daytime temps, it comes on too much at night and over-revs the engine.

I worked with one of those on a 289 last summer. A little tweaking of the idle screws, and it was done. Excellent response, smooth power curve, good power. Engine is a ported 289 with C9OZ-6250-C cam.

The temp here is pretty consistent, normally... I like the idea of the electric choke.

Velocity: why should I use a spacer?

Another question, this intake has the rear water crossover. Anything I should do for this? The seller said he ran a hose from the rear to the front to help the flow. Is this necessary?

On the new felpro 1250 gaskets on the water ports there is a small excess gasket covering part of the port. Is this normal or should I trim it?

What is the difference between an EGR carb and NON EGR carb? I know what it strands for but I dont understand it, or if I need it.
