Radiator upgrade?

Radiator upgrade?
Hi all,
I have been having some overheating issues during summer, I don't have any numbers but I had to stop the car and wait a little before driving again.
What would be a nice aluminum radiator upgrade for a config like mine? It is a 289 with a Performer RPM kit and manual transmission.
Would it make sense to upgrade to electric fan? My battery is in the trunk, will it make it more complex?
Thanks,

You should check all of the easy things first. If you don't have a shroud, get one. Make sure the timing is on. Too much or too little timing can cause overheating. If your radiator is plugged, have it rodded out. Make sure your thermostat isn't stuck.
I think you can upgrade to a big block radiator for more capacity. CJPony parts has an aluminum one for $290. Electric fans are nice, but you have spend a bit to get one that flows as much as the mechanical fan with a shroud.

I have a Northern aluminum 2 row with no shroud and run 185° with a 302.
Make sure your lower hose doesn't collapse when reving the engine. If it does you should check the hose and check the radiator to see if it's full of crap. I have a spring in the lower hose and although it's not there specifically for that purpose it helps.
I had an electric fan and ditched it for a clutch fan. Love it.

I replaced the stock 2 row 20" rad. with a '68 24" AC rad. with 3+ cores (NPD), added a fan shroud and 6 blade fan with thermostatic clutch. Haven't started it yet but doubt I'll have any cooling issues. If you haven't changed your Tstat lately put a new one in 180* or 195*, don't go 160*. If you use a sufficient electric fan you'll need to upgrade your alt. to at least a 100A or above to handle the power drain when the fan kicks on and run draw.
