Default Painting under car on your back?

I'm thinking I will go ahead and shoot the epoxy on my underside and engine bay. Going to leave in epoxy so I'm thinking I might as well do as opposed to having painter do it. Just curious what other have done. The primer gun I have is gravity fed HVLP so I'm thinking I'm going to run into trouble spraying. Any tips - other than rotisserie (next build I'm breaking down and getting one). thanks

I don't have the paint setup, I am going to sand and repaint the under with can and then 3m rubber undercoat. That will be tough to do. I wish I knew a place I could use their lift.

You most likely will have trouble with the gun spraying upside down. When I paint cars I know even when I do the lower rocker panels it gets tough as once I tip the gun a little it just wants to shoot air so I have to keep tipping it back and forth. I also use a gravity fed gun.

Because of this I actually brush painted my undercarriage with a undercoating/paint. Yes, it was time consuming and messy but it came out very nice. The major downfall was that the paint wanted to run down the brush all the time from holding it upside down so it made for some very messy hands. I learned quickly to wear a pair of rubber gloves!

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...plication/PPS/

buy the adapter cup and lid and some liners...if you let the paint you spray harden in the liner you can normally reuse them(for spraying something like primer but i wouldnt reuse for base or clear...)

your welcome

Someone directed me to this post. I really like the idea. Not sure I would use my bumper brackets though - I welded those in place and would a little nervous just using them to support rear. Cool threads non the less. Very cheap alternative to a rotisserie

I use the PPS system with my Iwata gun, best investment I've made.

I'm kind of excited about trying it out. I sometimes rattle can things that I would rather spray but I hate having to clean everything up for small pieces.
