I just put mine in last fall. Good solution. No problems.
Perhaps you can ask someone at RadioShack if they can suggest some type of pot (electrical adjustment device) that you can insert into the speaker wire at a point that you can reach from the seat. Then just trun the volume down when you want to.

I was searching for a Mustang radio and came across their slidebar. Looks pretty nice. Was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences with it? Thanks in advance.
