1969 Mach 1 Accel distributor Replacement
I recently acquired a 1969 Mach 1, and the distributor gear was destroyed. Car was running briefly when I picked it up before the gear gave way. Initial set-up was a dual point Accel, mechanical advance, 32202 with an Accel 140001 super coil with ballast resistor. I decided to upgrade to the Accel 54202 electronic ignition, with both mechanical and vacuum advance. Per the instructions, I removed the ballast resistor, and ran the ignition wire straight to the + on the distributor. I hooked up the distributor red wire to a 12v source, the brown wire to the - on the coil, and the black wire is grounded to the valve cover. After all this, I am getting no spark to the spark plugs or from the coil. Any suggestions on troubleshooting the problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Cheapstang, problem was the "12v ignition source" turned out to be a miss wired tach wire that was providing 12v even when the ignition was turned off. Hooked 12v ignition to the right side of the starter solenoid and engine is now running great. Thanks again for the suggestion.
