go back and read the timing at full advance and also at idle. report the numbers. you should be able to provide them with reasonable accuracy (i.e. 1-2 degrees).

12 initial should be good and shouldn't cause hard starting. what was your total?

I have no idea! I dont know if any of the numbers Im giving you are correct.

At idle with my light advance set to 0 the white line that is marked at 10* is about an inch to the left of the marker. I then turn the **** on the light till it lines up with the marker and the dial reads 20. Thats with all lines hooked up.

Does that sound right?

Also after the 30-60 min cool down time it started up just fine.

i'm not familiar with the type of timing light you're using, but i believe you should just set it the timing light to zero and leave it there (mine doesn't have that option).

with your timing light set to zero above, read the timing marks on the damper at idle and at full advance (all readings without the vacuum hooked to the distributor (blocked like you did before).

report those numbers.

Okay, that makes sense, however my timing marks only go up to a certain point and I am beyond that reading so I cant say for sure.

you need some timing tape.

or maybe you could use the feature on your gun somehow to measure beyond where the timing marks end.

Yes, I am reading about the dial back lights now. I can use the dial to read timing now. I will get you numbers soon. Eating now.
