T5 conversion, Question on driveshaft
#12
You need a new TS bushing for the same reason. My experience has been that the TS bushing compresses a bit due to its manufacturing process when inserted into the TS housing. In my case for for proper fit the bushing had to be honed using a brake cylinder hone. Now you slide in that old slip yoke and its proper tolerance unit it reaches the wear mark and now its a sloppy fit.
Go on roll the dice you might get lucky...a number of us do but when you dont get lucky it sucks. The time and money I spent hunting down these issues I could have bought about 2 new DS from dennys.

That's why you might need a new yoke. My problem is with those who force you to buy one, by telling you it's a "T5 yoke, required for conversion".
I have never needed to hone a tailshaft bushing. Typically, the tailshaft bushing can be installed with the trans in the car, without disturbing the tailshaft housing. The whole job takes about 2 hours, with the right tools.

That's a load nothing is "required" In fact the real t5 slip yoke wont even fit the classic style DS as it uses a different U-joint I recall.

Hello, Anyone out there with a T5 conversion, did you have to cut down your drive shaft, how much? Did you keep your yoke or buy an aftermarket, I tried to install the driveshaft last weekend and it would probaly work but there was little to no extra yoke left, probaly too tight right?
