Default Solenoid problems

So I have a 1966 mustang coupe I6 and recently it would not start. It would turn over like it was about it start but wouldnt. I checked all the connections and such then decided to replace the solenoid switch. Now when I hook up the positive battery wire to the solenoid it causes my alarm to sound and I can not figure out how to make it stop....any suggestions? thanks for the time

this is how I have the solenoid hooked up but it is causing my alarm to constantly sound?

Front 5/16 terminal stud -
- large power cable from battery - red (original color).
- small wire, large ring lug to alternator - black, yellow stripe. It goes to the connector for the alternator.
- small wire, large ring lug to regulator and the rest of the car and a second wire for the ammeter - black, yellow stripe and red.
Front small stud -
- small wire, push on connection, starting voltage from ignition switch - red, blue stripe.
Rear small stud -
- small wire, push on connection, full 12 volts to coil - brown.
Large 5/16 rear terminal stud -
- large power cable to starter - black.

Your new starter relay may be defective (this and several other years Ford doesn't use a solenoid. the difference is a solenoid converts an electrical action into mechanical action (e.g. GM starters). A relay does not)

Your car is wired correctly. It may be the new relay is defective.
Leave the small brown wire off on the rear terminal - If that stops the alarm the rear stud should be evaluated for 12v with the key off - if it's there, the relay is bad. That I terminal is there to provide battery voltage to the coil upon engine start engaged.
