best way to pull the steering coulmn in a 1965 mustang
I am getting ready to put my pedals back together and install them in my 1965 mustang. the steering column is going to be in the way to get the pedals back in as an assy. what is the best way to pull the whole column out of the way? thanks.

It wasnt in the way when I did my pedal assembly even with a clutch pedal doing the t5 swap...I found I could work around it pretty easy depending on when you install the clutch pedal....any ways thats how I remember it.....
If you do wish to remove it simply pull the steering wheel, then remove the two bolts on the bracket right where the column meets the dash and it should slide right out. It will expose the steering shaft which can not be removed. If you now remove the bolts from the steering box (also not too bad) you can get the shaft to lay down a bit and get some more room that way.

When i did my pedal repair I removed the steering column to get more clearance room, along with the air vent. I've heard of people doing it without removing it but I didnt have any luck the air vent however was a must. I removed the air vent after I took the steering column out and it gave me all the room I needed, so i'm thinking maybe with just removing the air vent you might be able to get it in without removing the steering column.
