Default timing and carb round #2

so i got the venturi to stop dripping, got the floats about perfect, the rear float was being a pest. It idles real good at about 1k rpm but when i put it into drive it drops down to 600-500 and then just dies. I think Ill play with the idl emixture screws a bit but it could also be the srings in the dizzy? maybe at 1k its a lil more advanced then when it drops down in gear I lose the timing?

Your timing light will tell you if you are seeing a drop in the advance. I don't think it is likely though. Have you checked for a vacuum leak? Also, how many turns out are your idle air screws? Did you follow the directions holley gave in the link from the other thread? Are you using a vacuum gauge per the directions?

I looked but couldn't find what size carb you have and what intake. I did find you are using a double pumper carb, which may not be best for your auto application.

I gave it i lil more fuel at idle with th idle ajustment screw. It ow idles at 1k and idles at 700-750 in drive. tiny bit of deisel when i shut it off in park. drove around town last night and it ran real good. raced a turbo 300z (wife got mad) lol. After driving around for about 20-30 mins the idle went all the way up to 1500 in park. I brought a couple tools with me and readjusted the timing agin by ear to get it back to where it was. no timing light. I wonder if the dizzy hold down doesnt work well enough? its one of those chrome universal ones.

cam specs are 234/244 dur and 598/579 lift 111* lob sep. power band 3000-6400, from FTI designed for my setup

torque converter is a 3500 stall bully dog...its one of the normal size ones wish i could have afforded the lil one at the time

Carb is a ProSystems 4150 bored to about 780 cfm...also designed for my setup

intake is a rpm air gap with a lil port work

afr 185 heads, no port work, comp springs at 145# on the seat. 1.6 pro magnum roller rockers and fpa full length headers

still sounds like a vac leak.
