Default 67 frt spindles on a 66

Do the 67 spindles fit on the 66 with no problems?

The short answer is; it's not worth the effort unless you are willing to work through some serious geometric issues. And if you are there are better spindles to choose from.

Along with the change of tie rods you mentioned in the other post, there is a change in Ackerman, and in the geometry in it's relation to the drag link that will change the bumpsteer characteristic.

All this can be easily dealt with by someone who is knowledgable (or is willing to do some serious learning, and physical work).

If you are going to change to a later model spindle set up, I'd look to get more advantage than a '67 spindle has to offer.

Just my two cents, 'cause no one else was chiming in.

Scott, thanks for the info.. Do you have any suggestions as to what spindle works best....or should I try to find a set of 66 5 lug spindles. I'm wanting to change my 4 lug to 5.

I guess it would depend on what your end result is going to be. Spend some time to search out "spindles" on different Mustang forums.

If you can get to an open track Mustang event, or hook up with a club, you will get a lot of good information.

One word of caution. Some of the threads I've read get pretty esoteric. Sometimes I wonder if these guys spend all their time with a slide rule instead of a steering wheel.

I take it by your saying you have a 4 lug spindle, that you have an I6 car. Is that right? If so, there is more to it than just changing the spindle. A 1978 Granada front spindle works great on V8 cars, but a lot more work and money to convert for an I6 car. The centerlink and the inner and outer tie rod ends need to be changed as well.
