in 2.02" ex 1.60 with bronze guides
Manley Race Flo Valve
double springs,
manley viton Seals
- camshaft: COMP Cams Xtreme Energy CL31-230-3
Hydraulic Flat Camshaft
Lift .460"/.474"

RPM Range 600-4800
- Rocker arms 19049-16 Ultra-Gold ARC Aluminum 1.72 ratio
- Carburator : Holley 4160 770cfm
or edelbrock 600cfm (i have both in stock)
- intake : Edelbrock Performer Manifold
- Oil Pump Ford Racing M-6600-D2

That cam seems a little wimpy for those heads but you're using the 1.7 rockers. Let us know how it turns out. My bet the 600 carb will be more friendly then the 770 on the street.

Just finished rebuilding my 65's 289. Thought a lot about using after market heads but ended up opting to rebuild/mod stock 65 289 heads. Since my car isn't a race car put wanting improved performance, I had 1.94/1.78 valves installed, had both the intake and exhaust ports opened up, screw in studs along with new guides, springs, seals ect. Cost me about $650 vice $1k plus for aftermarket heads. I like the fact that when I open my hood, the only aftermarket is my intake and headers, going for the sleeper look I guess. Anyway, my engine runs great, sounds good and looks clean.

thank you
@ groho : about the heads, the fact is i had to chose between my stock "California emission" heads to restaure complitly and these one (because shipping to France new heads is quiet expensive) that was just retired from a "GT40 replican" engine.
As we don't drive your granny like GT40, I decided to look for camshaft that gives me realy good intake in low range.
About carbutators, you right with the 600cfm, but a holley is so ... great in the middle of the V!
I have to restaure it and maybe it is possible to moddified it?
@ oldblu65: I agree. I will try to conserve an original look with stock head-covers, and so the air filter. A stock looked engine that works better then some others little tuned flashy blocs!
For the moment, i've just receved parts, but as soon as the rebuilt finish, be sure that I'll show you how it goes (or not...)
