Check your fuel filter. Also make sure your fuel lines are not pinched. Could be getting enough fuel for idle but nothing else. Happened to my 67!

It would still rev up before choking out and dying, if that were the case. Still a good thing to check, but I don't think that's the issue.

What kind of ignition are you using? What are your plugs gapped at? I assume this is a new problem. When did it start?

thanks guys, the fuel line is clear new filter. I have a stock autolite distributor with points, new gapped at 18, the plugs are basically new and they are gapped at 34. the car did run for a while but choked out on me one day driving. now i have this problem. im thinking fuel related cause i can get it started and idle good until i give it gas. i sprayed carb cleaner around the base of the carb when running and no change in rpms so i dont think i have a vacuum leak. Im soooooooooo lost!!

OK,
First, I would hook up an eng. vac gauge. The left front port should be full vac so connect it there. With the engine at operating temp., and idling at 7-800 Rs. What's vac reading? Should be steady needle and making 18-20", or so. If all of this is good, adjust each mix screw to obtain the highest vac reading.
What is the history with this carb?
What were the conditions when this started?
Is the distributor vac in good condition?
What happens when you "gradually" open the throttle?
Let us know.
